Beautiful, cheerful and romantic sculpture of a boy smiling. At the beginning of the 20th century, people thought this was a masterpiece by Donatello hence the name Donatello on the back. Later on, it turned out to be made by Desiderio da Settignano (1430-1468) who was also a famous Renaissance sculptor from Italy. This piece has a very strong appeal and properly portrays how children are able to fully revel in their emotions. On the back is the number 1202 and Made in Belgium, the object is placed on a nice base made of polished white marble.
This very beautiful piece shows that good quality is timeless and that this early Renaissance sculpture is still current and modern.
