"His work was the most important thing for Siet Zuyderland. At the age of 16, the Amsterdam visual artist graduated at the Institute for Arts and Crafts, a forerunner of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. "He was proud of that," said his daughter Eva Zuijderland (54).

Zuyderland became sick in 1992, very sick. Fifteen years long, until his heart transplant, he suffered from heart failure. He had little energy, was often in the hospital, but was mainly found in his studio. His new heart became an important theme for a series of paintings.

The life of Zuyderland was devoted to the arts, and successfully. In the 1970s, he exhibited twice in the Stedelijk Museum with exhibits that contained extremely realistic paintings of subways and prisons. He was successful, to as far as New York."
