Species: Crioceratites majoricensis
Age: Baleare zone, Upper Hauterivian Stage of the Lower Cretaceous
Dimensions: Specimen measures 10 cm diameter from spine to spine.
The specimen is very inflated and it is prepared 3D.
This museum quality Crioceratites specimen was discovered and prepared by a renowned fossil preparator and collector . Many painstaking hours of work was needed to expose the three-dimensional form of the fossil from the matrix.
Note that spines rarely fossilize, are incredibly difficult to prepare and some likely wore off during the ammonite's lifetime.
In this specimen spines have been reconstructed when the specimen is been prepared to show how it might have appeared in life.
Restoration notes: 100% of the spines are reconstructed and glued into their original anatomical position.
It looks great from every angle and would be an amazing display in a home, office or museum.
