Martinus ('Martin') Nicolaas Maria Engelman was a graphic artist, graphic designer, lithographer, pen drawer, painter, artist and typographer.
Training: the Amsterdam Graphic School, Secondary arts and crafts school (direction graphic techniques) in Maastricht and the Academy of Art in St. Gallen (typography and composition) in Switzerland.
He taught at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg (HFBK Hamburg), the College for the Arts (Columbus, Ohio, USA), and the Hochschule der Künste (Berlin - Charlottenburg).
Martin Engelman worked in England, France, Italy, Switzerland and the United States.
His work has developed from surreal to abstract expressionistic.
The work of Engelman is in many museum, corporate, and private collections. In the Netherlands among others in the collection of the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
