Rashid Ben-Ali - Zonder titel (portret)
Mixed media, Oil on canvas - Hand signed - original - 2018

Rachid Ben-Ali was sent to the Netherlands at the age of 15, by his parents. He is self-taught. In 2001 and 2003 he had shows at the Tanya Rumpff Gallery in Haarlem, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, and the World Museum in Rotterdam. Queen Beatrix chose one of his paintings to introduce an exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum. In 2003 he won the KunstRAI award for young Artists and in 2005 40 of his most recent paintings were shown at the Cobra Museum of Modern Art in Amstelveen.

After death threats, which he received for the exhibition "spit bombs of hate-imams", he went into hiding. According to the curator of the Cobra Museum, John Frieze, Ben-Ali's bloody, violent and homoerotic canvases are a "visual narrative that illustrates personal concern about war, migration, homosexuality, religious intolerance, and discrimination '.
