Danish Battleaxe, Polygonal axe.
The oldest battleaxe type (before the double-edge- and the Singlegrave types)
A high end piece.
(wish you had the other half, then it would be a 8000€ piece! )
Made in pofyr-stone.
This stone was brought to Denmark from Oslo during the ice-age.
Only found there!
Mint surface, the dots is yellow, and content iron, they get more orange then.
Notice the ornamentation, groove lines along the broadsides on both sides.
Because the buttend is missing, we can not deside if it had a more or less knob at the end, look drawing for the possible shapes.
VERY RARE. and despite it is only a ½ axe, it is suited for even the best collection.
Divestment from my very large private collection.
