Wonderful gilted wooden statue of Senju Kannon, 1000-Armed Kannon 千手觀音, the Kannon of Great Compassion..

One of Japan’s most beloved esoteric forms of Kannon. Senju 千手 literally means one thousand arms or one thousand hands. However, since it is extremely hard to carve statues with 1000 arms/hands, most Japanese sculptures of this deity are portrayed with less arms.

Japan, Late Edo period.
The throne can be of Early Meiji period

Senju is depicted with hands in the mudra of greeting, respect and veneration. It is in good condition for its age. Shows signs of aging. A rare, beautiful Japanese Buddhist statue.

Dimensions Senju Kannon approx.:
36 cm high, 13,5 cm wide and 11 cm deep.

An exceptional collectors item and very hard to come by especially of this age and beauty.

Will be carefully packaged/shipped by registered post.
