PAOLO BUFFA:

‘The Italian architect and designer Paola Buffa (1903–1970) was active between the ‘30s and ‘60s and is known for her furniture that blends the neoclassical style with Art Deco motifs and modernist principles. Her works often lack distinctive signs or marks, making them difficult to authenticate.

Born and raised in Milan, Buffa studied architecture at the famous Polytechnic school in the city, where she graduated in 1927. The following year she founded a design studio together with Antonio Cassi Ramelli whom she met during a brief spell at atelier of Gio Ponti and Emilio Lancia. The two designers made their professional debut in 1930, when they presented a dining area installation at the Triennale that year. Between 1933 and 1936, Buffa founded her own studio.
