There are works of such beauty, that it’s impossible not to be fascinated by them.
One of these works is the Cumaean Sibyl by Domenichino, a masterpiece of the 17th century.
With this painting from 1968 master Berto honoured him by masterfully reproducing the work from 1622 preserved in the Capitoline Museums.
G. Berto’s painting keeps the sense of beauty and uncertainty in the look of the Sibyl unchanged, despite the obvious intention to give his interpretation to this masterpiece.
So Berto didn’t only make a reproduction exercise of the original painting, but captured the stylistic features of classical beauty as a warning and hope for an era of great agitation such as that experienced in 1968, the year when Berto’s painting was made.
This beautiful painting is an oil on large-sized canvas (60 x 45 cm the image only).
It’s signed on bottom right and comes from a prestigious auction house, that can be proved by the invoice.
Since the painting is valuable, it will be carefully packaged and shipped by express courier.
