Paul Bodifée was born in 1866 in Deventer. After attending the “Normaalschool voor Teken-onderwijs” (art school) and the state academy in Amsterdam, he returned to Deventer, where he became an art teacher. Bodifée himself also became a noteworthy painter of Impressionist Overijssel landscapes, in which he captured the atmosphere of the sandy, dry, Salland region. He also painted old Deventer city neighbourhoods and landscapes in and around Giethoorn.
In an expensive frame from that period, it is a real museum-worthy piece of this Dutch master.
The frame has been restored in the past.
Canvas is unrestored but shows light, but not disturbing craquelure, especially in the sky.
Verso on the frame an annotation including the title of the work.
Without frame: 100 x 71 cm.
Including frame: 122 x 92 cm.
Shipping possible. Pickup is, however, preferred.
