Description
Sinalco - Sinalco glazed signboard (1) - Steel
Italy - 1950

Amazing Sinalco sign from a private collection.
With a few slight signs of ageing.
In the early 20th century, the German naturopath Friedrich Eduard Bilz invented a soft drink made from tropical and local fruits and started to sell it in partnership with industrialist Franz Hartmann. "Bilz-Brause" (Bilz-Lemonade) was the first international brand of soft drinks. A total of 3 million litres were sold in 1902. By 1903, the sales went up to 7 million.
Another milestone in the history of the brand was reached when the characteristic Sinalco logo, known as "Red Point", was developed. The logo, written with diagonal letters on a red oval background, became this German brand trademark.
