Rare sandstone jug signed KJG in hollow, after LOU Manche work for Louis Emile Manche.
This jug is adorned with an embossed Joker head and a coat of arms with 3 steins.
Size: 17.50 cm.
Diameter at its widest: 13.50 cm.
Weight: 1.381 kg.
It is in superb condition without any damage or missing piece.

Louis Emile Manche was born in Amsterdam on the 4/12/1908 and died in Veldhoven on the 30/1/1982. Son of painter Emile Louis Manche (1886-1973) and Adriana Maria van Nispen (1887-1978). He attended Gymnasium Uden between 1921 and 1924. Louis Emile Manche was a talented ceramicist, illustrator, graphic artist, sculptor, creator, glass painter, painter and monumental sculptor. He illustrated books for children. ‘Het jolige jaar’ (1931), ‘Het spookhuis op de Veluwe - Een verhaal voor jongens’ (1936), ‘Kwikstaartje - Een verhaal voor meisjes’ (1936), ‘Kriki-Krak’ (1937), ‘Het kinder kerstboek - Nummer 12’ (1940). For his work, he received the silver medal of the city of Nijmegn. En Janssen Sposo il 28/12/1931. In the thirties he was a member of the ONN Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging (2) Dutch National Socialist Party. He designed many posters for the NSB and Dutch Waffen-SS. His brother Gerardus Martinus Manche (Den Bosch 30/12/1907 - Kharkov, Ogulzy location (Ukraine) 9/6/1943) fell fighting on the Eastern Front as Rottenführer delle Waffen-SS.

- Exhibitions: Art exhibition at the Berkhout Art Gallery in 1932; poster exhibition at the Berkhout Art Gallery in a group 1934; Religious Association of Modern Art with the AKKV Catholic Church general artists at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, VANK exhibition the Association of Crafts and Industry in Art 1935; paintings on glass at the Spee Hotel in Nijmegen 1935; Annual group exhibition of contemporary religious art of the Pro Arte Christiani Foundation in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam in 1939; Glass and ceramics at the P.O.C. Eindhoven nel 1972; Retrospective in Schalm at Veldhoven 1975.
