Sheet with wide margins, on laid paper with watermark, in excellent condition, only on the back there are paper residues due to an old gluing at the upper corners (see photos).
On bottom le “Stork pinx.”, right “J. Ph. Le Bas direc.";
in the middle title, heraldic coat of arms and dedication " Dédié a M. Louis Louisson Capitaine de Navire des Indes Espagnolle", imprint below.
It is part of the series of Italian views created by Le Bas from works of different painters.
It depicts a shipwreck during a storm with a ship slammed against the rocks and others further away. From a painting by Abraham Storck (1644-1708), a Dutch painter best known for his maritime and port landscapes.
