cornucopia (1) - Baroque - Horn

Description
cornucopia (1) - Baroque - Horn
Belgium - 1950-1974

A Cornucopia or Horn of plenty.
This legendary object, which (as the name suggests) offered abundance, originally comes from Greek mythology.
According to myth, the Cornucopia is the horn of the goat Amalthea, which nursed Zeus on Crete. By way of thanks, Zeus put her in the sky as a constellation and her horn granted the holder of it everything he or she desired.
In the past, this was presented as a wedding gift.
