A bit of history:
Stunning Anatolian rug from the Canakkale area, antique, made between the 1920s and the late 1930s. Pure wool in classic Canakkale format, with an archetype iconographic implant. On the field, stars and other symbols (the same that can be found on ornamental regional costumes from the area) combine and mix with a delightful harmony of colours and lines. In this piece, there are clear throwbacks to the symbology of Mother Goddess and fertility, as well as to the Chenar tree. Other structural and packaging features: the use of some colours, still natural, and the trimming of the coat made at scissors' point, which gives the contour of the patterns a relief effect. A few small signs of wear, normal for such an antique rug.
