Description
Celtic culture bronze with vitreous paste Solar circle preserved and decorated
2nd - 1st century BC - Europe

Beautiful round sun cross - wheel in applique and beautiful degree of preservation.
The sun, symbolism of centuries.

The solar cross, a cross within a circle, is a common symbol in artefacts of prehistoric Europe, particularly during the Neolithic period until the Bronze Age of Europe.

The combination of the cross and the circle is the simplest conceivable representation of the union of opposite polarities in the western world. It is usually associated with the sun, hence its name, and the tree of life.
