A planimeter is a mathematical device for simple mechanical determination of areas of flat figures of arbitrary shape, as well as for finding the numerical values of integrals of a certain type. The principle of operation of the Amsler-Koradi device is based on measuring the length of the arcs described on the surface with a special roller with a very small contact patch.
