A highly sought-after edition of this scholarly study on the funeral practices of the ancient Romans, written by historian Johannes Kirchmann (1575-1643) and first published in 1605. It contains, in first edition, a frontispiece and 4 fold-out plates engraved with etching by one of the masters of Baroque illustrations, Romain de Hooghe. These 5 superb figures, very animated, are of outstanding printing quality.
