This lot concerns the 46 clichés of the original plates that were used to print the book.
Jan Waterschoot (1892-1968) illustrated this story in his best period as an artist.
He was a very talented etcher, painter and artist.
Considering his many qualities, he was initially mainly engaged in etching and watercolours, so his first comic first appeared only in 1937 (in Zonneland and Petits Belges).
His craftsmanship as a comic artist mainly shone in comics such as Jan Zonder Vrees, Willem van Saeftinge, Pius XII, De Drie Musketiers and Rubens.
