Ben Vautier - The Jocker

Description
Ben Vautier - The Jocker
screen printing and pressures - Hand signed - BolaffiArte - copy 3068/5000 - 1977

The photolithograph ‘Joker’, from the series ‘I Semi e le Figure delle Carte da Gioco’, is signed in pencil and numbered (on back). It has blind stamp by the publisher as a guarantee of its originality. It was made for the collection ‘Le Copertine Firmate di BOLAFFIARTE’ by Ben Vautier.
Enfant terrible of the French avant-garde, Ben doesn’t paint, he writes. He writes aphorisms about Art and about himself. His paintings are blackboards with sarcastic, irritating, vain, provocative and sincere writing.
PUBLISHED, as a cover, on the issue no. 67 of BOLAFFIARTE, February/March 1977 (please see attached photos).
PUBLISHED on the catalogue made for the exhibition ‘Le Copertine di BOLAFFIARTE’, held in the stables of the Royal Palace of Naples in December 2000, on page 49 (please see photos).
