Description

Netherlands - 1920

This unique and decorative World Globe was manufactured by: J.B.Wolters, and created by C.L. van Balen, Groningen. Seldom offered in this format. The usual format has a tinplate base and is more commonly seen than this type. It is therefore an extremely rare version from the well respected cartographers: J.B. Wolters and C.L. van Baalen.

This mini globe is suspended within a tinplate housing that shows the months, the signs of the Zodiac and phases of the moon on the sides.

Although there are minor signs of ageing, is this rare and museum quality globe in lovely condition. There is one in the collection of the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam! The tinplate housing and meridian are lightly weathered due to old age and use.

Measurements are: Height: 15.5 cm and Width: 16 cm.
