Jacques Bénigne Bossuet (Dijon, 27 September 1627 - Paris, 12 April 1704) was a French religious man, preacher and intellectual.
Defender of the theory of the divine origin of power to justify the absolutism of Louis XIV.
He supported the doctrine of the king's prevalence over the Catholic Church in France, called Gallicanism.
