Detailed depiction of a chimney mantle, in brown, grey, black, cream shades. Paint on wood. Wooden frame with plaster and relief in the corners. The work has been purchased at an auction in Antwerp around 1960.

Jan Strobbaerts was a Flemish painter (Antwerp 1838 - St Pieters Woluwe 1914). His uncle was Henri Leys. He was a good friend of Henri de Braekeleer.
His works can be found in the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
