Original woodblock print - Keisai Eisen (1790-1848) - 'The Courtesan Yatsuhashi of the Naka-Manji-rô - From the rare series "Courtesans of Five Houses (Keisei Gokenjin), pun on Five Sages" - Japan - 1830's-40's

The irises are depicted in sumi-e style on her elegant kimono. One of the "Seven Wise People of Bamboo Forest" is depicted in the cartouche.
Condition: Thinning in the corners. Many wrinkles in the paper, especially middle left side and in the corners. Some surface dirt and a few pin size holes. Backed with paper.

Publisher Wakasaya Joichi (Jakurindô). Censor seal: kiwame.
