Two table bells (2) - Bronze
Europe - Late 19th century

Lot of two bronze bells:

(1) Bell with handle representing a gargoyle, medieval decoration on the bowl representing battles with knights and characters, inscriptions on the lower part: ‘F. Hemony Me Fecit Anno 1569’ as a tribute to François Hemony (1609-1667), famous foundry of bells and chimes in the Netherlands.
Bronze round clapper held by a wire.

Dimensions:
- Height: 10 cm.
- Diameter: 8 cm.
- Length of the handle: 8 cm.
Weight: 554 g

(2) Evangelist altar bell adorned with fantastic chiselled animals, friezes of leaves and acanthus leaves. Saint names inscribed in Latin (partly faded): S Marcus, S Matheus, S Johannes, S Lucas.
Bronze clapper.

Dimensions:
- Height: 11.5 cm.
- Diameter: 9 cm.
Weight: 766 g.

These two objects are in good overall condition with age and use wear, old patina, rubbing marks, scratches and tiny scratches.
