Mid-century coat rack with hat shelf from the 'Good Living' era. Painted black tubular frame with painted red perforated sheet steel in original condition.
Size: 79.5 x 25 x 29 cm (WxDxH)
This coat rack was most probably manufactured in the style of Pilastro or Artimeta. The curves at the top are highly reminiscent of the stave coat rack designed by Coen de Vries for Pilastro.
In terms of colour and the use of materials (painted red around perforated sheet steel), the coat rack is also very reminiscent of the side tables that Floris H. Fiedeldij designed for Artimeta. Fiedeldij was inspired by the French designs of Serge Mouille and Mathieu Matégot with his designs from the 1950s.
The coat rack is in good, vintage condition. The black paint has sustained some damage here and there, however this is not very noticeable since most of the damage is out of sight and the base is dark. Please see photos. The red sheet steel hat shelf is in very good condition.
