"Godfrey of Bouillon; whole-length figure, frontal view, the head in three-quarter profile to left; wearing armour and a helmet and holding a shield with various crosses in his left hand; from a series of nine worthies from the Old Testament and history in strapwork borders".

Original engraving on laid paper in mounted boards; a fairly good impression; silvery, contrasted.

Signed with monogram 'VS' intertwined on a tablet at lower right.
Lettered 'HERCZOG/ GOTFRIDT' in a cartouche at lower centre of the frame. Also lettered 'R G' on the shield. (see images for details].

Made by Virgil Solis.
