‘Playful, colourful, quirky - that's how you the publications of De Literaire Loodgieters are characterised. In the 1980s they made books for their own pleasure and without any commercial purpose. Typographer Ewald Spieker taught the ‘Plumbers’ how to work with lead letters. (...) In the beginning - like the series of birthday books for writers in 1983 - the number of copies was only a few, and later never more than a few dozen at the most, even if the publisher's imprints suggested otherwise.’ (Source: Antiquariaat Fokas Holthuis, Nieuwsbrief 514).
