ANCIENT ROMAN BRONZE MINERVA STATUETTE.
Minerva was the Roman goddess of wisdom and strategic warfare and the sponsor of arts, trade, and strategy.
The goddess wearing her aegis over a long pleated peplos, her sandaled toes emerging from below the hem, the right foot slightly behind and to her right, the knee bent, her right arm raised to hold her now-missing spear.
The head is broken in antiquity and missing, otherwise a masterfully made with richly waved peplos.

Period: 1st.- 2nd. Century AD.

Purchased by the current owner in 2010 in Austria, Wien from Collector fair.
Collected Since:1980's.
