Information on Château Larmande:
Château Larmande is one of the oldest vineyards in Saint Emilion and lies in the north of the appellation. The soil is particularly varied, consisting of clay, sand, iron residues and iron-rich clay. The wines' quality has been largely consistent for many years. Since 1970, when the winery was renovated, the wines have enjoyed a particularly good reputation. Full-bodied, complex and deliciously fruity, they have a capacity to age for several years.

Vintage description 1970 Bordeaux.
An extraordinary year. Due to ideal weather conditions, the harvest provided a large quantity of high quality grapes. Most of these wines, luscious in their youth, have aged marvellously well. Rich, balanced and complex, the wines are deliciously aromatic today. 1970 is without a doubt one of the great post-war vintages (1961, 1982). The sweet wines are impressively rich and voluptuous.
