Japanese sword stand, kake, circa 1890.
A very impressive Kake. Inlaid with mother of pearl. A gorgeous item, very much sought after and very rarely found until today.
I am therefore very pleased to be able to offer this item. This extraordinary kake is from a gokayama, where it has been kept for centuries. The fact that they were willing to give it up is therefore very special.
In Japan, it is customary to present a sword on a kake when it is not in use. The painted decorations on this kake are exceptionally beautiful. The images are exquisite and the details are very clear. A great acquisition for every enthusiast.
