Charles Eames, Ray Eames - Vitra - Office chair - ea119

Description
Charles Eames, Ray Eames - Vitra - Office chair - ea119
Switzerland - 2000-Present - Leather, chromed steel

The Aluminium Chairs is one of the greatest furniture designs of the twentieth century. Charles and Ray Eames designed and developed this chair in 1958 for the private residence of an art collector in Columbus, Indiana (US). The designer's duo started off the construction with the principle of the seat bucket, instead of a strip of fabric of leather, which is stretched between two aluminium profiles, to create a sturdy yet elastic seat. The chair adjusts itself to the body and is extremely comfortable.

The chair was made using brown leather. The high backrest gives the design a robust appearance, and a great deal of comfort in combination with the tilting mechanism.
