This is a beautiful, jewelled, Avalokitesvara Ekadashamukha
Bodhisattva 觀自在菩薩. In Bronze With 24k gold gilt remnants ( cold gilding process. Verified chemically as 24k Gold leaf) with Turquoise inserts I've reset.
Here Avalokitesvara is in its Ekadashamukha form, ( 11 heads and 8 Arms ) and is standing in Samapada with his principle hands in Anjali mudra, others holding scared objects including whip and lotus flower. The deity is dressed in a richly decorated gown with precious jewellery, wears pointed leaf crowns and is framed by celestial bands. Traditionally the first nine faces are peaceful, the tenth is wrathful and the top head shows the portrayal of Buddha Amitabha. The iconography of 11 heads symbolizes teaching to all 10 planes of existence, including Gods and Hell Beings.
All together he wears the crowns, robes and jewellery associated with an enlightened Bodhisattva.
This is a wonderful piece for the collector, gift, altar, or an impressive interior design statement.
I've reset the empty jewellery settings with 19 quality, hand made, Turquoise Cabochons. These are natural, untreated, undyed Persian Turquoise. Only 3% of the worlds Turquoise is natural and untreated. (I was a successful acclaimed Jewellery Designer in Soho, London in the 1990s).
