Original woodblock print - Teruhide Kato (1836-2015) - Yasaka five-story pagoda beneath the moon - With artist's signature - Heisei period (1989-2019)
Signed Teruhide Kato(in pencil at lower right). This is not one of the limited number of signed works for sale. It's a work that the artist keeps for his memory. It is usually the first printed work completed by ukiyo. It is also the most precious of all the original prints of this ukiyo painting.
Teruhide Kato, born 1936
Teruhide Kato had studied at Kyoto Art College. He was a famous kimono fashion designer, and traditional Kyoto woodblock artist.
His works have been widely loved and praised in Europe and America.Unfortunately, he passed away in 2015.His autograph is therefore more precious.
The author uses abstract blank and simple lines to create a unique perspective, looking up at the moon in the night sky beside the Buddhist pagoda of the temple
