FRAMED Two original illustrations from the Gazette-Du-Bon-Ton magazine published in July 1924 on fine paper distributed to wealthy subscribers at 100 frances per year. It established fashion as an art alongside painting, sculpture and drawing. Frame size 50 x 44 cm
The centerpiece of the Gazette were fashion illustrations. Each issue featured ten full-page fashion plates printed using the hand-applied, colour pochoir technique. Famous Art-Deco artists, were employed rather than simply drawing models in outfits, depicting them in various dramatic and narrative situations.
The first entitled "AU MAROC" is by the artist - Hubert Giron.
The second entitled "SUR LA PLAGE" Plage" is by the artist - Roger Chastel.
The Gazette-du-Bon-Ton was a small but influential fashion magazine published in France from 1912 to 1925. Founded by Lucien Vogel. The publication reflected the latest developments in fashion, lifestyle and beauty during a period of revolutionary change in art and society.
