Corneille (Guillaume van Beverloo) 1922-2010.
Initially strongly influenced by Picasso's work, he dissociated himself from it in 1948 and joined the Cobra movement. He is co-founder of Cobra together with, among others, the Dutchmen Karel Appel, Constant Nieuwenhuijs and the Belgians Christian Dotremont and Joseph Noiret.
In 1950, he moved to Paris from Amsterdam. From 1960 he fell back on figurative art in which women, birds, flowers and often personalities belonged to his artistic vocabulary.
