A beautiful authentic LUBA neck rest, D.R. Congo. The two beautifully detailed figures face each other with intricately carved faces; beautiful patina.
The wooden neck rest is widely used by women to protect their hairdo. When they lie on the support with their neck, there is no weight on the hair which allows the hairdo to stay intact.
Beautiful aged patina reasonable condition. One arm contains a crack due to aging. One cauri shell on top of the head is missing.
Provenance: former private collection from Belgium.
