Magnificent Agbogho (woman) Mmuo or Mmwo (spirit) Mask used by the Igbo (or Ibo) from Nigeria This mask conceptualises the idea of an ideal young woman; it represents also the beauty and purity of a young deceased girl. The mask is worn by a man and is danced during the harvest of sowing festivities, but also during funerals of important persons. It is characterised by the white colour which covers the face, it is the colour of the spirit (Mmwo). It is always flanked by two combs symbolising femininity.
