Miniature portrait of a woman, painted on copper. Estimated dating: 1820s/1830s.
The miniature is mounted on fabric with a wooden frame (almost certainly not original). On back, you can see the current mounting seems to date back to at least 40/50 years ago, according to the type of paper used and its condition.
There is also an old handwritten label that reads ‘miniatura su rame - 1830’.
There are some scratches on the painting, but they are surface signs and almost only noticeable if you place the item at a specific angle to reflect the light.
You can see a more pronounced scratch between the hair and forehead of the subject.
