Alain was born and raised in Paris. With 12, he attended classes at the Louvre; this experience determined his artistic direction. With 16, he entered the ‘Collège d’Enseignement d’Art Graphique’ in Corvisart. Once graduated, he starts painting while living from odd jobs.
He exhibited at the ‘Salon d’Automne’ at the Grand Palais. After few years he realises the importance of the painting in his life, and decides to make a living out of it. With 40, he left Paris and settled in Brittany to finally dedicate himself to his passion.
Alain works with palette knife painting on canvas, paper or wood. To create his landscapes he uses construction spatulas, which are wider and more rigid than traditional palette knives.
He draws his inspiration from his travels (Italy, Greece, Algeria, Tunisia) and the places where he has lived (Paris, Brittany). He transforms his memories into uninhabited theatrical scenery. His works can be considered as travel journals. With his mind full of images, he creates light, ambiances and atmospheres in his studio.
