Congratulation Poster ‘Stripschapprijs 1990’. As I said, in 1990 I won the ‘Stripschapprijs’ and the old EPPO, who had just become the property of Big Balloon through a glorified redundancy scheme,
congratulated me with a poster (a generous gesture that might also have something to do with my half switch to the Veronica magazine.) A reprint of an image from 1982, but as a very beautiful poster, it is a real good choice. Franka on the selvedge, the edge at the port. In 1982 still present, I myself lived there, shortly before. That image was used by me at a later point, but with Mai Mai in the foreground, in ‘De Tanden van de Draak’. For the very attentive reader: the newspaper, the police car and the fleeing man tell a sub story about a theft. The police are alarmed by the owner of the café who reports the fight down in the pub. Side stories enough, inside and outside the drawing.
Poster: Full colour A3, 30 x 44.5 cm, signed.
The winner of this lot will also receive the special print, made for this auction in an edition of 150 unnumbered copies, in colour in A4 size, signed by Henk Kuijpers (see final image).
The original of this print can also be found in this auction. See the final lot.
