Manifattura del Centro Italia Fine XVII Secolo - Pharmacy Jug - Maiolica

Manifattura del Centro Italia Fine XVII Secolo - Pharmacy Jug - Maiolica
Italy - early 18th century

An ancient pharmacy jug in majolica, hand-decorated with blue floral and geometric motifs, a typical decoration for pharmacy vases from Central Italy (probably from Tuscany, Montelupo, given the similarity in both shape and decorations, with other objects of that period). ovoid body, flat base, narrow neck and reinforced handle. It bears a cartouche label with the words "Siropo di Rose Seche" (dried rose syrup) and it probably comes from Central Italy, dating back to the end of the 1600s / early 1700s.
In excellent condition despite its age, with a small chipping on the base, as shown by the photographs. The photos, taken outdoors, in sunlight and under artificial lighting, show all the details of the object, they are an integral and fundamental part of the description.
