A pair of antique paintings, oil on wooden panel, from the eighteenth century, depicting portraits of bearded men.
The paintings, of excellent quality, present the typical style of the painter Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich called Dietricy (1712–1774), both for the stylistic features and the rendering, as well as for the typology of the subject, typical of his production, suggesting precisely a plausible attribution to Dietricy himself.
Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich was a German artist, painter of the court of Saxony.
Alongside Louis de Silvestre, Anton Raphael Mengs and Anton Graff, he was one of the most important artists of the Court of Dresden.
Framed in beautiful 19th-century frames, richly decorated with leafy and gold motifs, with some flaws and defects.
In fairly good overall condition considering the age of the paintings, there are only some scattered restorations, mainly on the background, but nothing very relevant. Rather dirty, the would probably benefit from a slight cleaning. Fine craquelure compatible with age. There are no conservative problems and the panels are in excellent condition, without any kind of structural problem.
