Un grand chef de guerre protestant. Duke Henri de Rohan (1578-1638) played a major historical role in the first quarter of the 18th century: he became leader of the Protestant party in France from 1610 onward and was involved in all rebellions until the Peace of Alais in 1629. He wrote his memoirs in Venice, and expressed his bitterness within about the failure of the Protestant movement in France. In his account, he criticised many personalities, including those in the reformed camp: the Prince de Condé, who was particularly badly treated, had almost all of the copies of the first edition bought and destroyed.
