Bordeaux blend red
The Chateau is located in the south of the appellation on the border with Pauillac and its vineyards are superbly sited on a south-facing gravel ridge with a high clay content, just north of Lafite. Cos d'Estournel is typically a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. (courtesy Antik Wein.) The Chateau cites that the 1964 was, "a very good year. Abundant quantity. A deep red colour, little developed. Aromas peculiar to a mature year, crystallized cherry, smoked meat, but also hints of dry fruits and the cigar box. In the mouth it is distinguished, delicate and sinewy. A structure of closed up, discreet tannins.
One bottle slightly lowered cork and very slightly corroded capsule.
