Miyagawa Shuntei宮川春汀 (1873 - 1914)
Japanese artist of ukiyo-e prints born on 11/11/1873 in the Aichi prefecture under the name of Watanabe Morikichi and died on 26/07/1914.
Neglected by the critics of its time, he is the precursor of the Shin hanga movement.
He studied with Watanabe Shōka, later Tomioka Eisen.
Active during 1895-1907, he illustrated newspapers and books and was inscribed in the painting tradition of kuchi-e. His themes are genre scenes (children playing their games and upper-class women performing their daily tasks).
Print lined with paper in very good condition, fresh and bright colours, some creases, no holes.
