Very rare 1900-1910 Cantagalli Majolica, hallmarked on the bottom with the “cockerel” and a number.
Large polychrome maiolica of winged animal.
Holes on the back, 2 water tanks on the wings and original cork cap at the base.
It served as a hand warmer or incense/perfumer.
At the time it was a precious object, used by the rich bourgeoisie or the nobility.
Made on commission or in limited edition, it was probably used by some noblemen during hunting as hand warmers.
Today is an exceptional and very rare, highly collectable.
Condition: minimal glaze loss on the edges of the side tanks and a minor chip/loss on the tip of a wing. Otherwise in good overall condition.
The published images faithfully represent the lot.
