A fine representation of a howdah with 4 guardians with minutely carved details.
It dates probably from around 1850 - 1860 and most likely made by the John Company, well known for ivory chess sets of that period with howdah in the same style as king piece and similar pawn pieces as the guardians.
A report from an expert is added to confirm the age and the fact it is legal to sell in the EU. BIdders outside the EU should check own law on import of antique ivory.
