Kees Bol (1916-2009) - Stilleven met duif

Kees Bol (1916-2009) - Stilleven met duif
Oil on panel - Hand signed - 1955

On offer, one of the early, top pieces by the artist Kees Bol. The beautiful still life is made in 1955 and preserved in private possession.
The image of the dead pigeon is nicely stylised and is supported with the symbolic representation of the broken bowl. Early works by Kees Bol are very little on the market.

Cornelis Kees Bol (Oegstgeest, 21 September 1916 – Heusden, 16 September 2009) was a Dutch painter and draughtsman. In 1944 Bol started his training as a visual artist, first by attending drawing lessons with Jan Heesters in Schijndel, followed by a training at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague. There he was a pupil, among others, of Paul Citroen and Henk Meijer. Besides being an independent painter and draughtsman, he was a lecturer at the Art Academy in The Hague from 1963 to 1972. From 1951 to 1972 he was also a lecturer at the Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven. Until the year 1970 Bol lived in Eindhoven, after which he lived in Heusden until his death in 2009.
