Luc Tuymans - Pharmacy

Description
Luc Tuymans - Pharmacy
Silkscreen/Serigraph - Hand signed - Friends of the SMAK 91/100 - 2004

This work arose shortly after Luc Tuymans moved to the Van Breestraat in Antwerp. Two or three houses from his was a pharmacy with the well-known luminous sign, of which he 'noticed the reflection on the footpath’, presumably in the evening and in the rain. This blurry stayed with him as a bleak sign. He depicted it as a figure on the pavement, partly still connected to the footpath, but also completely in thin air. This makes this work typically Tuymans: secretive, oppressive and inauspicious, with even a macabre undertone.
The print was realised by Roger Van Daele who also took care of most of the other graphic work of Tuymans, and was part of a folder from the Ghent Museum SMAK, released as a tribute to director Jan Hoet. It was therefore never offered separately, which explains its rarity.
This has the number 91/100 It has never been framed and is 100% mint.
